Talking About Advance Care Planning with clients & thinking about it for ourselves

June 16, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm PDT

Sponsored by BC Association of Social Workers

Presented by Cari Hoffman & Laura Gaspard Bainbridge

This online live webinar examines the advance care planning process for working with clients and for ourselves.

About the Webinar:

Planning ahead before you are sick is something all of us should do. Yet less than 50% of Canadians have talked with their family or friends, and only 10% have spoken to their health care providers about their future goals and wishes for their health. Many people don’t know how to begin while others are unaware of how our values influence our health care decision making and that we can have a say in our care. Social Workers are especially skilled at engaging in advance care planning conversations due to the diversity of our areas of practice and notable communication skills. Join us in learning for yourself and your clients the concept of Advance Care Planning, Substitute Decision Making for healthcare decisions, and provide insight and resources to start and continue the Advance Care Planning process.
