ECHO Pediatrics: Comfort in Complexity launches soon

In April, BCCPC will support BC Children’s ChildKind program and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in launching the first pediatric ECHO in British Columbia. This ECHO series will give health care professionals at BC Children’s Hospital and Canuck Place a valuable opportunity for networking and sharing education with others providing complex care for seriously ill children and support for their family members.

Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a program of “tele-mentoring” that creates virtual learning communities where health care providers can connect with subject matter experts and each other. The sessions foster and all-learn, all-teach approach, and often consist of a short lecture presentation and case-based learning.

Each session features watching a 30-minute presentation prior to meeting together over Zoom. The Zoom one-hour sessions will include the opportunity to ask the presenter questions, discuss case study examples and share care and treatment recommendations.

The first session on April 22,  will be open to health care professionals from organizations other than BC Children’s or Canuck Place who work with palliative pediatric patients and their families. For instructions on how to register, please contact Ingrid Kelly: ingrid.kelly@phsa.ca.
